I can't remember the last time it was like this... Not a sound, I mean it's the first time in years that no one had argued, not even my parents. My sister is in the bathroom and my father in the kitchen with my mother. I walked through the house remembering the loud crashing through the doors as my father chased my sister through the house, calling out threats and the screams, Those horrible screams when my father hit my mother. But the worst bit was when he came home drunk blaming me for everything that went wrong in his life just before passing out on the couch. But now that's all gone. It's quiet as a mouse. I can't even hear the birds.
